Hanging Gardens of Babylon or me correctly, Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built by King Nebuchadnezzar II (605-562 BC) for one of his wives, Amytis or Amuhea. They appeared in ancient times among the seven wonders of the ancient world. After an old legend, spread by Greek writers in particular, would have a much earlier origin: they were built by King Ninus the founder of Nineveh and Babylon towns, for his wife Semiramis (or Semiramis). After historian Diodorus of Sicily information, huge gardens occupying an area of 15,000 m² and rose in four terraces to 77 meters high. On the terraces were planted trees of various species, some of them 24 meters tall. They were wet cylindrical pump, whose secret is not yet known. Under the terraces supported multiple columns, were cool rooms for the royal family. By some accounts, it seems that the famous gardens were destroyed by the Persians, during the occupation of Babylon, then everything is broken down, and the Tower of Babel.
