The platypus is a mammal that lives in Australia.It lives in rivers and streams. It is the only mammal that lays eggs instead of giving birth. It is also venomous, and though in the past if was hunted for its fur, today it is protected. It has fur on its body and feet, making the platypus waterproof and the males of the species are venomous. It eats worms, larvae and shrimp.
