Descompunem în factori numărătorul primei fracții :
[tex]\it x^2-x-2 = x^2 - 2x + x - 2 =x(x-2) +(x-2) = (x-2)(x+1)[/tex]
Numitorul primei fracții se poate scrie:
[tex]\it x^2-4 = x^2-2^2 =(x-2)(x+2)[/tex]
Acum, expresia devine:
[tex]\it E(x)=\dfrac{ (x-2)(x+1)}{(x-2)(x+2)} +\dfrac{x+1}{x+2} = \dfrac{x+1}{x+2} + \dfrac{x+1}{x+2} = \dfrac{2x+2}{x+2}[/tex]
[tex]\it E(x) =1 \Leftrightarrow \dfrac{2x+2}{x+2} =1 \Leftrightarrow 2x+2=x+2 \Leftrightarrow 2x=x \Leftrightarrow x=0[/tex]
