As an English teacher, I like essays which start in unusual ways. I often suggest that my student start off with a question to draw the reader in: 'What am I like?/What do people think of me? etc'
I also like them to start with a one-word sentence, to show that they can use a variety of sentence types for effect: 'Sparkling. That's how I was described by.../Entertaining. A word that is often associated with me.'
Or maybe write down what your reaction was on being set this assignment and what it shows about your personality: 'Another boring assignment. What does this show about my personality? That I don't care about school? That I have better things to do? Or that...'
