Put verbs in brackets into the Past Simple and the Past Continuous:
1. When i arrived they ........ (have) lunch and invited me to join them.
2. When i arrived the press conference had already started and the coach ..........(answer) questions about the disastrous match.
3. I .......(decorate) a cake when the lights went out. I was furious.
