Hearing is done with the ears, while listening is an intellectual and emotional process that integrates physical, emotional, and intellectual inputs in a search for meaning and understanding. Effective listening occurs when the listener discerns and understands the sender’s meaning. The goal of communication is achieved.
Listening is when the brain knows the sender's meaning making the communication possible and it is done with the brain as well not only with the ear. Hearing is just done with our ears being just a physical process.
